đź’» Microsoft Cybersecurity Scholarship (Last Mile Education Fund)
The Microsoft Cybersecurity Scholarship, presented by the Last Mile Education Fund (LMEF) in partnership with the National Cyber League, supports students in the final stretch of their academic journey toward cybersecurity and technology careers. The program focuses on closing financial gaps, improving degree completion, and strengthening the national cybersecurity workforce pipeline.
To date, Last Mile Education Fund has supported more than 8,000 community college students, helping them complete degrees and certifications in high-demand technical fields.
Scholarship Benefits

💻 GuidePoint Security “SOC-in-a-Box” Project 2026 — Paid Cyber Apprenticeship
Are you looking for real-world cybersecurity experience you can put directly on your résumé? The Project-Based Learning Program is partnering with GuidePoint Security to offer a unique, paid apprenticeship opportunity for college students focused on building hands-on SOC experience.
From June 1 – December 4, 2026, selected students will help engineer a fully deployable Security Operations Center (SOC) lab environment, working collaboratively with fellow apprentices and gaining exposure to real tools and workflows used by professional SOC analysts.
Recruitment Period: February 2–13, 2026
What to Expect
- Pay: $25/hour
- Weekly 1-hour check-ins with the GuidePoint Security team
- Team-driven workflows and professional communication practices
- Practical, résumé-ready cybersecurity experience
🌺 Akamai 2026 Summer Internship Program (Hawaiʻi Residents Only)
An exclusive internship opportunity for college STEM students who are Hawaiʻi residents — including kamaʻaina studying out of state — or students currently enrolled at any University of Hawaiʻi campus.
The Akamai Internship Program places students at observatories, research centers, and technical facilities across Hawaiʻi and at UC Observatories in Santa Cruz. Over 500 students have completed the program, with more than 250 now working in STEM careers.
Eligible Majors:
STEM fields, including CS, engineering, astronomy, physics, and other technical disciplines.
Locations for 2026:
- Hilo & Waimea (Big Island)
- Kihei & Pukalani (Maui)
- UC Observatories, Santa Cruz
- (No placements in Kona this year)

SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program
The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program is a Department of Defense (DoD) opportunity for STEM students that covers full tuition, provides an annual stipend, offers paid summer internships, and includes post-graduation civilian employment with the DoD.
